Lessons for every age and skill level

Our goal is to help people of all ages be safer and more confident in the water. From blowing bubbles to competitive breaststroke, the Kroc swim instructors are here to help you achieve your goals. We limit class sizes to maximize instruction and safety. Each basic class has total of only five participants. The parent tot classes can have up to 12 participants.

Whatever your goals, we offer a swim lesson for you. From basic skills like kicking, blowing bubbles. and floating, to swim team skills like strokes and techniques. Also, private lessons and instruction for people with special needs.

Click the links below for class details and to sign up:

  • Parent/Tot Lessons (Ages 0-3) - Class is designed to help to develop swimming readiness in young children by leading parents and their tots in water exploration activities, with the objective of having fun in the water.
  • Level One (Ages 3-7, and 8-14) - A beginner's class for younger kids that emphasizes water safety, water acclimation, water games and basic skills like kicking, blowing bubbles and floating. Floating and propulsion skills are introduced and refined.
  • Level Two (Ages 4-14) - Continuing from the beginner's class lessons emphasizing water safety and basic skills like kicking floating, working towards independent swimming and transition to the Competition Pool, all the way through diving, strokes and turns for basic Swim Team skills.
  • Level Three (Ages 4-14) - This level is designed for those who have passed all the required skills for level 2. This class will be working on skills such as stroke improvement for freestyle and backstroke, learning how to do a legal breaststroke and butterfly, swimming 50 yards with a flip turn, introduction to open turns and doing dives and racing starts off the blocks..
  • Pre-Competition (Ages 7-18) - This Level is designed for swimmers who have passed all the required skills of Level 3. This class will prepare swimmers to join Swim Teams by teaching them how to read a Swimming Workout, reading pace clocks, and doing an IM. (Race consisting of all 4 Strokes: Back, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Freestyle)
  • Adult Swim Lessons (Ages 14+) - It's never too late to learn to swim or improve the skills you have. These private lessons are adapted to each participants starting level so that you can become the swimmer you want to be.
  • Private Lessons (All Ages) - one on one instruction tailored to the skill and goals of the participant. The class is adapted to each participant starting skill level so that they can achieve greater technique, stamina, and have fun while doing it! Due to high demand, you may only sign up for one set of lessons for each month.
  • Summer Lil' Kroc Water Safety Classes (Ages kids 4+) - In this course your child will learn all about water safety, how to respond in the case of an emergency, and how to help others be safe around the water. Take this 3 day class to help your family have a safe and fun Summer! Watch for the next Water Safety Classes classes in June 2025.

Classes are first-come, first-served and are open for registration until they are filled. You can register at the front desk or online. Students may be moved up or down to a different class in a more appropriate level, as needed.

Refunds, transfers, and cancellations: The Kroc Center reserves the right to cancel or combine any classes due to low enrollment. If a class must be cancelled, appropriate personnel will contact you regarding a refund or credit for the class. This applies only to classes cancelled by Kroc Center management due to low enrollment.

The only reason I started swimming was for water safety. Then, once I started falling in love with sports, I got more comfortable with it

Swim Lesson Requirements

  • Arrive early to check-in and familiarize your child with the facility. Please have your child ready for class at the start of the lesson time.
  • Have your child go to the bathroom before lessons. Children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper and plastic pants (available for purchase at the Front Desk) to prevent bathroom incidents in the pool.
  • Check-in at the swim lesson table when you first walk onto the pool deck. After the first day of class, meet the Instructor on the pool deck where the first class was previously held.
  • Swimmers are not allowed in water before their lesson time.  Please wait for your Instructor on the pool deck.
  • A parent must be present on deck during swim lessons.
  • Goggles are not required but recommended.
  • Classes will be cancelled and a refund issued if we experience lightning or mechanical issues. Make-up lessons are not available, and no other refunds will be given.
  • Please be ready to take instruction from Leads and Lifeguards.
  • It’s important that you limit your interaction with your child during the swim lesson. Students will develop their swimming skills better if their attention is only directed towards their instructor. If you can’t find the class, be sure to check both pools. Instructors sometimes change pools to give students an experience in both pools.
