The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center is pleased to provide a scholarship program to help provide access to The Kroc Center. It was Joan Kroc's vision and expectation that all individuals have equal opportunities to grow their natural gifts and talents. Scholarships are available for all memberships based on financial need.

The Salem Kroc Community Center is pleased to provide membership financial assistance to low-income individuals and families in need. Our scholarship program offers up to 25% off monthly membership fees.  Apply for a scholarship when turning in your membership application; we offer instant approval for those who qualify. Becoming a member of The Salem Kroc Center is much more than signing up for a health club or fitness center. This is a place where you will feel welcomed and supported no matter what your abilities or goals. Every person in our community is a critical component of The Kroc Center. There are plans available for Individuals and Families, and price points for Youth, Seniors, and everyone in-between.

How to Apply/Renew for Scholarship

  1. Download our Scholarship Application or pick one up at the Salem Kroc Center Information Desk.
  2. Turn in your scholarship application with your membership application for immediate review and instant approvals.
  3. At the Information Desk, be prepared to show proof of Household Assistance or Special Circumstances when applying. This includes physical letters or printouts of statements, OR by digitally logging into a qualifying household assistance program and showing proof to the Kroc Center Scholarship Coordinator in-person. You may show proof digitally with your smart phone: log-in and show your recent account statements.
  4. If you qualify for a scholarship, it will be granted and the discount will be applied immediately as you sign-up for your The Kroc Center membership.
  5. If you do not qualify for instant approval, you may submit a separate application with proof of income with our Income-based Scholarship Application to appeal your financial status or present special circumstances. This includes all documents that best reflect the gross annual salary income of all household members: check stubs, unemployment statement, social security, disability incomes, food stamps award letter, alimony, child support income, etc. The Scholarship Income Proof forms are here in English and Spanish.
  6. For your scholarship to remain active, you must use The Kroc Center on an average of four times per month. General Membership Policies also apply.
